@highclass: I recorded that Ivanov gives 9...Bd7 worse for Black than 9...Be7, but my point view is this assessment is not valid if Black plays good move: 11.Nc3 Na5!? (starting counterplay on the queenside)

I want to suggest this idea: 8...Bd7!? (no need to hurry for moving h6 knight) 9.Bb2 Rc8 a position reached by transposition and analyzed in NCO (Nunn Chess Openings)...but I need to work what follows after 10.Nc3 Na5 11.Na4 Qc6 12.Rc1 Nc4 13.Bxc4 dxc4 14.Nc3 Qb6!? (Black flees from the point d5 move for White)

...... What are the chances you are actually going to get this specific line on the board? Just worried that you are obsessing too much over 1 line.

Not very big since all moves are almost new after ...Ng6.

I was just trying to understand one position and I found it so strange that black eq so easily. I had the opportunity to see IM Watsons pt french 3 edition today, and he sorts of trying to give the impression that 10 ... Nh6 is better that 10....Nfe7, Well a fourth editon is on its way and if this line is changed I will buy a copy.

I think that an unprepared player plays
11. ... Na5 (! watson)which is the main move and most logicla i guess. But tragic for white that at least one player will go ...Ng6 Wink

Back to the board, to the battlefield

Sorry ladies first a game of chess then heavy analysis then entering your moves in chessbase THEN maybe  champagne if you listen to my ideas of 15. Qb3!!!

Isn't 15...Nd8 just bad after 16.Na4 ? (no Qd8 retreat)
15...Nce7 16.h5 f6 17.Nf3 looks interesting, Black has to watch out for a possible Bc1 (eg after Nf5 or Nf4), while Na4, Rg1, Rh3 or Bd3 are also in the air. Very complicated and I can see several ways an unprepared Black can go wrong here. edit: oops, sorry, 16.Na4 Qa5 needs to played before 17.h5, otherwise ...f6 is not forced (16.h5 Rc8). Still not easy for Black.
But you mention in another thread that you are creating a repertoire based on 3.e5 for team matches. What are the chances you are actually going to get this specific line on the board? Just worried that you are obsessing too much over 1 line.

Ok so i have spent many hours on this and now i hope someone can tell me were my analysis are wrong. Ireaaly thought that white moves Bb2,g4 and Nc3 is very fine, yes it is after 11. ... Na5.

So I am probably not over 2000 in rating and I do not wan't to claim that this is good or bad or anything at all, I simply came to the conclusion that black at least equalizes with 11. ... Ng6. Tell me why this is not correct and or where to improve for white.

1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. c3 Nc6 5. Nf3 Qb6 6. a3 Nh6 7. b4 cxd4 8. cxd4 Nf5 9. Bb2 Bd7 10. g4 Nfe7 11. Nc3 Ng6!

12. h4 I think this is the best move, computer thinks not --> computer still very stupid until move 20 or so. h5

13. gxh5 (13. g5 Rc8 14. Na4 Qd8 15. Nc5 Bxc5 16. dxc5 Qc7 17. Qe2 O-O )

13... Rxh5 14. Ng5 (14. Bh3 Be7 15. Na4 Qc7 16. Rc1 a6 17. Bg4 Rh8 18. Nc5 Nxh4 19. Nxh4 Rxh4)

(14. Rc1 ? Looked natural to me and was my first move for two days but there is no good way of developing your white arsenal after this. Qd8
15. Nb5 only move? here we end up with a loose pawn on d6. Is this lost already or just advantage for black?
(15. Qd3 Nxh4 ) 15... Nxh4 16. Rxh4 Rxh4 )

14... Rh6 only move that makes sence  15. b5 Nce7
Nd8 is also possible. It is a question of taste i guess. 16. Na4 Qd8

I like being black here I guess Sad
