White will begin with d2-d4 and Bc1xf4: nice centre, smooth development and Black's pawn on h4 will be an eternal weakness. Just follow the basic rules: take control of the centre, develop the pieces as actively as possible and take care of the king's safety.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

4...h6 doesn't actually defend g5, and White's position should then be better.
4...f6 (which looks typically horrific) appears tactically bad due to 5. Nxg5.
4...gh looks as though it should enable White to regain both pawns with a better position.
