I disagree with your logic, Alias.  Just because a book doesn't appeal to me, doesn't mean it won't appeal to my opponents.  I have quite often looked at recommendations in really bad but popular books to see what my opponents might play.  I would never buy such books, but looking at them has helped me.

My review of several books by Schiller, for instance has helped me to prepare for open tournaments where I will face 1400-1700 rated players but I never planned on buying them. (I do own one Schiller/Shamkovich book.) I'm sure Vitiugov's books is not horrible, but I doubt it will satisfy my needs either.

Fine, but isn't this a repertoire books for black? If I'm not wrong, you play the french and 1.d4. This book would not be of very little interest if the repertoire is not to your liking.

PS. I don't have the DW book on Flank openings, but I like the fact that 1.c4 e5 2.g3 Nf6 3.Bg2 c6 has been recommended there. I've noticed that it has become much more popular recently, nothing I complain about as a g3 english white player.

It's unclear to me that the page count is indicative. I mean, unless it's 5 pages or something, in which you'd have a problem. Chess Stars books tend to be quite dense, with less commentary then normal. I'd wait to see if it doesn't fulfill your needs. The Easiest Sicilian is a fairly small book compared to Rogozenko's hefty Svesh tome, but The Easiest Sicilian is one of my favorite books!

Judging from the contents and intro, and the number of pages devoted to each section, it all looks a bit on the light side to me. I could be wrong and will have to look at it in a book shop, but not too impressed with the choices either, so its a definite pass for me on this one.

If it's a definitive pass, then you don't have to look at it in a book shop. Smiley

Can anyone find a link online to buy this book? Chess-stars does not have an e-shop, and London Chess Centre and Niggemann do not have it either.

The stores you mention will have the book when it's been published.

What does Vitiugov recommend in the Winawer 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.bxc3 Ne7 7.Qg4 ? Does anybody know? I mean, 16 pages is not that much.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Funny typo in that introduction:

"This book has been written from the point of view of Black, but this should preclude studying it by players who prefer the White side of the French defence."

Perhaps I should've been more specific. Around when in April? Half of April is already gone, and there have been no further announcements.

I think Black does better that way, inserting Nf6 and Bg5.
