Would you care to enlighten me or share some analysis? We can do it by PM if for some reason you wouldn't like to share it publicly. There's been quite a few drawn (fairly) high level CC games recently.

Ok i will attach a PGN soon  commenting on my games i Played.

In the corr game Geenen,M (2626)-Hoeven,D (2647)/World Championship 23 Final 2007/1/2-1/2, black played 20...f5!? and never seemed to be in much trouble.  After 21.Bxf8 Nxf8 22.Nd6 Nbd7 23.O-O Qc5 24.Qd4 b5 25.Rb1 Rb8 26.Rb3 Qxd4+ 27.Rxd4 Nf6 28.Rd1 Bd7 29.Ra3 Rb6 30.Bf3 b4 31.Nc4 Rb5 32.Rxa6 Rc5 33.Ne3 Rc3 34.Rd3 Rxd3 it would be another dozen moves before the draw was agreed to.

Following in the same footsteps, white has had some success in the Playchess engine room with an approach that's hard on the eyes at first glance though it eventually becomes evident that there's a method to the madness (even if many questions remain unanswered):

24.g4!? Qa1+ 25.Rd1 Qe5 26.Qxe5 Nxe5 27.gxf5 exf5 28.O-O g6 29.Rfe1 Kg7 30.Nc4! a clever move that puts heat on the 8th rank via moves like Nb6, Rd8 etc.  It's not clear why black didn't exchange knights at this point 30...Nfd7 31.Nxe5 Nxe5 32.Rd6 Nf7 33.Rb6 Ne5 34.Bh5 +/= according to the machine.  I want to believe.

According to my database 20...f5 has only been played a few times.  The results have been anything but decisive - all draws.

Regards,
Roy Gates

Well one thing I will say is that if 20...Re8!?, advocated in the ChessPub pdf file, is played instead of 20...Rd8, then White obtains a very strong attack by means of 21.O-O f5 22.Qg3 Nc6"!" 23.Qg6 Qd8 and now 24.Rd3!, a move not forseen in the notes (I hope I recall the preceding moves correctly).  This move has scored 100% in seven recent games in my database.  So beware taking the ChessPub notes too seriously, I would advise.

I was trying to spring this on someone in informal cc, but he deviated with 22...fxe4? and lost even sooner.

I very much like White's game as of move 20, which is why a 1.d4 player like me was playing 1.e4.  I knew my opponent was a Najdorf player.

24.Rd3 scores 100% in my book . Nice move Indeed also is 24.Bc4 worth trying.

I was curious as to whether or not White has absolutely anything after this line:

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Bg5 e6 7. f4 Qb6 8. Qd2 Qxb2 9. Rb1 Qa3 10. e5 dxe5 11. fxe5 Nfd7 12. Ne4 h6 13. Bh4 Qxa2 14. Rd1 Qd5 15. Qe3 Qxe5 16. Be2 Bc5 17. Bg3 Bxd4 18. Rxd4 Qa5+ 19. Rd2 O-O 20. Bd6 Rd8 21. Qg3 Nc6

Didn't I mention this in my analysis of Motylev,A-Anand,V a couple of years ago? I think Richard has also covered it in some of his notes to more recent PPs. Wink

If not, does White have any promising options after, let's say, move 12 on?

Story Sttarts after move 21.

Perhaps an answer to your question is here:

http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1187125791/0

"Unclear" seems to be the only fitting assessment of this position.
