There's always the Gruenfeld/Catalan approach even if you play 1..d5:

1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 g6
1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4 g6

This is probably a good way to outplay a weaker player without a lot of knowledge of London/Colle theory. It's not that you need to learn much theory whatever line you choose, but there's more to learn in the standard recommended lines than many people seem to suggest. For instance, White has several good independent ideas with 2.Bf4 that are sometimes overlooked by Black players. In fact, many London players consider the 2.Bf4 move order to be more accurate. These nuances are probably less of a concern if Black plays 3..g6.

Against the London 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bf4 c5 4.c3 Qb6 5.Qb3 c4 6.Qc2 Bf5 is simple and strong for black. I believe we have discussed the specifics of this line previously here in the Pub. Use the search, Luke! Wink

I think you mean 6...Nc6 7.e3 Bf5.

Then 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 c6 might attract you. After 3.e3 Bg4 Black wants to play a Stonewall with the bad bishop outside the pawn chain. Black will then have excellent attacking chances. After 3.Bf4 Qb6 and 4...Bf5 is most interesting.

I guess it depends on the rest of your repertoire but one option is the Stonewall Dutch, eg 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 f5; another is the Pseudo-Chigorin, eg 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nc6; a third is a "mainline," ie 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Bg4.

I play QGD or (Semi-) Slav so your options arent in my repertoire, but thanks for your answer (I should have said that in my first post, sorry)

Btw: I thought the Pseudo -Chigorin is a good option for white if he plays London System?...

Aggressive variations against Colle / London Syste

Hi guys!

I am playing 1.d4 d5 with black but a lot of people play against me Colle or London System. I have never looked up theory about these two openings, I just play normal intuitiv moves.
My question is now, are there any aggressive variations for black to meet the Colle/London System?

Thank you
