And what is Alburt's recommendation? I'd assume he gives 3...g6 4.Nf3 Bg7 5.c3 0-0 6.0-0 Nc6 and ...e5 or 3...e5 4.c3 d5, although there are other ways for Black to equalise, of course.

There's also 4...Nbd7, 4...Be7 and even 4...g6!? which also suffice for equality. 

After 4...Nc6, White should play 5.Nf3 Bg4 6.Be3 Be7 7.0-0 0-0, but this is just equal. Usually White plays c4, but this isn't attractive with the pawn on c3, e.g. 5.d5 Nb8 6.c4 Be7 7.Nf3 0-0 8.h3 c6 with standard counterplay.

Black is already slightly better after the queen exchange, in my view.  Granted, it's not terribly exciting but hey, what do you want?
If it's a real problem, there's really not much wrong with just playing 3...g6 (or even 4...g6, I suppose) with a Torre/KID sort of position.
  
If sometimes we fly too close to the sun, at least this shows we are spreading our wings.

I would be suspicious of 6. Bxe4 and 7. Qxd8+, which seems unusual and appears to score quite poorly.  I remember GM Robert Rabiega getting nowhere in a hurry with it against Bacrot in the Bundesliga earlier this year.

I have been playing 3. . . e5 and after 4. c3, the recommended 4. . . d5!, but after 5. dxe5 Nxe4; 6. Bxe4 dxe4; 7. Qxd8+ Kxd8, I don't love Black's position and White's position seems easier to play, even if he's given up the two bishops.  What do fellow Pircaneers do when facing 3. Bd3?
