Just to make my position clear: I think an October update should arrive in October and should contain games from the previous 4/5 weeks!

Actually it crossed my mind. Thanks, appreciate your clear statement.

Thank you.

Hmm, well,

Keeping the deadlines is a problem you (GMTonyKosten)have to deal with. It should be totally transparent for the subscriber and I am really suprised that it is an issue - with or without "excitement". However if it becomes an issue to the subscriber I am again suprised that no message is sent to the subscribers, describing why and how it will be dealt with in the future to eliminate a repetition.

@Hacker: You seem way off topic, did you read the original post? This thread is about the spacing of the updates, i.e. whether they should be spread over a complete month, rather than whether a deadline is kept or not.

I have read the original post and all other posts as well. I still fail to see why my post is off topic.

You cannot bring up “spacing out” without talking about deadlines.  It is even more important to keep deadlines if you intend to space out the updates. Unless your intention is to space them out in an arbitrary fashion in which case I think it is the worst situation as a subscriber.  I also believe  that spacing them out throughout the month will increase the risk not getting some updates within the month.

I am sorry to say things you don’t like but I like Chess Publishing very much and therefor I will take the liberty to say what I think, bad or good.

Still I think the best is to get all updates within the two first weeks of the month and don’t wait but send out the updates as soon as they are ready.

Edit As I said before spacing  out could be fine if the deadline for each updates are kept e.g. 1 e4 e5 latest 7th, 1 e4... latest 10th and so on and the updates include activities close to its deadline. Arbitrary updates  are worst case scenario.

Spread them, but use a fixed schedule. Your site will look more busy if it's updated, say, twice a week. See ChessCafe for example.

Well, yes, this is my concern. The Home Page looks very busy for a week or so around the middle of the month, and then goes very quiet for a few weeks, unless a few updates come in a bit late.
Needless to say we get loads of subscriptions around the middle of the month and less the rest of the time! Shocked

If you haven't already, you could also have a weekly newsletter like Chesscafe, informing subscribers of recent updates to each section.

Do you mean instead of the email notifications?

The Anti-Sicilian is "exciting" enough.

Think we spend to much time on a stupid topic. I pay for Gold subscription and expect Gold sevice. If that can't be delivered then there are othe things to spend the money on.

edit: would like to add that I don't care when the updats arrive as long as each update arrives at an agreed date all the time. I don't want e.g 1.e4 e5 in the beginning of the month in September and then end of the month in October. It makes it impossible for me to plan my schedule. It is however no problem what so ever if the updates are earlier than agreed.
Different updates could have different deadlines as long as the agreed deadline is kept as latest date.

Strange question. Are you asking if I would like to wait and get October updates in November or what are you asking?? Angry

Well, not in November, but I could have held onto them for a few days to increase the 'excitement'!

Don't worry, it's only the Pointer Sisters with 'I'm so excited'!

All that excitement compressed into a few days ... except for the Antis update, which could arrive at any time!
Anyway, it seems clear that most subscribers would prefer to have the updates online as soon as they are finished.

My guess is that the complainant doesn't want for forget to look at the updates. So if there are too many to look at in one go, the problem is he might forget to go back and look at them later.

I dare say you're right, but can't the person just write themselves a note? Or even just return to the main page after working through each update to see which ones have yet to be looked at? It seems to be such a trivial matter of self-organisation that I find it a bit surprising that the point was ever raised in the first place.
