Maybe we should create rooms where all but a few posters can post!  Grin

You mean the idea is good if you just remove the idea!? :))

In a way it could sound cool to have a Mount Olympus or Valhalla but I fail to see the practical use of it. What would be discussed there that couldn't be discussed here?
isn't it obvious? It removes the trolls that come by just to insult or advertise. You have to prove you aren't a troll. We've gained many over the last few weeks.
Yeah, "so long as you make the barrier to entry of this room very very low so that anyone that wants to attain entry could do so." will surely keep the trolls out... :))

I don't really see the "need" for such a "room". But then, perhaps a year after it's been installed I may wonder what we ever did without it.

I doubt that though.

I'm not sure if this suggestion belongs in this thread, however I propose that a restricted access section be included in the Forum, where only members with over 1000 posts can make a post or start a new thread.

What do you think?

There is already a restricted access section for the management team, which I currently use as a waste bin!
It is certainly possible to setup a new board and give special permissions, but why do you think it would be useful?

It's mainly to give the most active posters the privilege to chit chat between themselves, away from the public viewing. I know of another forum that offers a restricted access section so I thought I'd bring it up here.

Hope it will not be the start of the declining of this fantastic site. The great thing about the site is that "high and low" have the same forum showing mutual respect.
I understand the needs of the elitism but usually it never turrned out to be good but for the very best. So good luck!

What kind of proof is that?

It's fine by me. Anyone else interested? Undecided

Nope. Don't see that as at all helpful. I have zero interest. Put me in a private room with some 'senior members'? It would be a bloodbath.

From my perspective, aside from chess, which I don't really play anymore otb, I regard this site as a fine example of what can be hoped for as a social constructivist enterprise.

By the way, can my 'God' status be changed into 'arch-dullard' instead? Not wanting simpleton supernaturalists to get confused and start bothering me and all that.

I've setup a 'Troll' group as well, with one member (currently), any suggestions for other members?
