Yes for me it is worth the trouble because I hate playing against Scotch Four Knights mainline

If you hate the mainline 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.d4 exd4 5.Nxd4 Bb4 6.Nxc6 bxc6 7.Bd3 d5 8.exd5 than 7.Bd3 d6!? is relatively rare but sound alternative. This has been analysed by Gustafsson on his DVD on the open games as Black.

I recall that Black may also have 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.d4 exd4 5.Nxd4 Bc5, as discussed in John Emms's "Play the Open Games as Black", which seems less dubious than 4...Bb4.

Dont know if 4. ...Bb4 is dubious, because I do not know any variations ...
Do you have some variations on 4. ...Bc5?
If possible I want to play as sharp as possible (I know I have black and that stuff, as I said, as sharp as possible)

I think the theoretical verdict is that White is somewhat better in this line. Play is complicated but Black is the one risking more - is it worth studying this line?

I just looked - there are some games in 1.e4e5-Chesspublishing.

But is it worth the trouble as 4...ed4 5.Nd4 Bb4 is equal? -  and you could also get this move order:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cd4 4.Nd4 Nf6 5.Nc3

And no, I can not get this move order because I will play 4. ...Bc5 then

C47: Morphy´s solution to the Four Knights?!

Hello I am searching variants, information, tips and traps in the Morphy variation in the Four Knights (I think the variation is so called, but I am not sure), especially from the black side Smiley

The variaton goes 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.d4 Bb4!?

I want to play this in my next tournament game on Friday, so where do I get information etc?

Thanks anyone who will help me!
