You have already played 4... Nbd7 so you can´t play it on move 5 too.

F4 is an unusual square for the Bishop in the Pirc/Modern but it´s not obviously bad. Instead of 5... e5 which is certainly playable I would seriously consider 5... a6 here which transposes to an unusual line of "Tiger´s Modern" (1.e4 g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.Nc3 d6 4.Nf3 a6 5.Bf4 Nd7). Here Black wants to play ...c5 & b5 instead of ...e5 and tries to get a decent Dragon.

Btw, I wouldn´t care so much for what the computer has to say after only 5 moves. Even if an evalulation like +0.32 or so arises that doesn´t mean Black is not okay!

I meant 5...Ngf6 and corrected it.

After 1.d4 d6, 2.Bf4 isn't suppose to be very strong because Black can get in a quick ...e5 but what if play goes 2...g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.Nf3 Nd7 5.e4.

a) The computers think White is quite a bit better after 5...e5. Do you think White is better here?

b) I think 5...Ngf6 transposes transposes to a good line of the Pirc because Black is committed to ...Nbd7.

It doesn't seem that this idea works agaimst 1...g6 because of 2.Bf4 Bg7 3.Nc3 c5!
