As an addendum: As this forum is (often) chess related, instead of the poll optins (i) "I agree", (ii) "I'm not sure", and so on, one could instead use (i) < ± > for "I agree / good idea / I like your post, (ii) < = > for "I'm neutral", (iii) < ∞ > for "I have to think about that" and < ∓ > for "I disagree / bad idea / I don't like your post". (I admit that this system exhibits a certain bias for White.)

That would have the additional benefit that all non-chess-playing members, who are from the start unqualified, can't participate in the mini-polls as they don't understand the symbols  Grin

I'd like a sort of "mini-poll", a poll refering only to one post. You post a statement or a suggestion and are free to attach this mini-poll with three options: (i) I agree, (ii) I'm not sure, (iii) I disagree.

With this very post, I would like to know what others think about this suggestion, so I'd attach this mini-poll (if it existed), and would (hopefully) get some feedback. It's easy for the poster and easy for the "postees".

But probably there are again some unsurmountable problems in implementing ...  Sad

I don't see a point of a like button. I think Chessvibes tried it. Rather pointless.

PS. I like Facebook.

I think the like button is a good idea... It's an easy way to attract new people to a site Smiley

I sincerely hope this site doesn't implement such a thing as a "like button".

But then, I don't really care for those posts that read

I'm not aware of any 'like' button in YaBB, but there is a button so you can add threads you like to your favourites.

A like button for individual post is hardly needed, but maybe it could be an idea for topics so that appreciated / useful / interesting threads don't fall too far down with time - for example, every "like" could remove a week of the age of the topic to make it stay higher than topics no one liked.

- If something like that is possible to do in Yabb?

Perhaps also a "dislike" button adding a week, to make some topics age and disappear quicker...

Tony,

I would like to suggest having a "Like" button on the forum so you can "like" someone's post. Maybe I spend too much time on facebook, but just seems like a cool idea to me.  Cool
