How do you do that?

1. copy the url of the page
2. add #REPLYNUMBER to the end of url

example
this page has url of
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1322434138

my reply is #10. so, putting the two together we get
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1322434138#10

Personally, I think it should be up to the moderator which threads to make sticky.

If a repertoire thread is popular and successful, it won't need to be made sticky. If it's unpopular, making it sticky will just clutter up the top part of the section it's in.

Yes, that's what I mean. Yes, moderators can make threads sticky; Markovich is the moderator of the 1.e4 e5 Spanish and 1.d4 d5 Forums.

You wantme to make these threads sticky? I will be happy to oblige. Let's hear a few more opinions, though.

Dear Jesse,

that is what I wanted to do 4 posts earlier. How do you do that?

But this cannot replace "sticky posts". My idea was to have particular posts within a thread always on top (for example, an "index post" with links to "sub posts", as in the QGR thread). But that doesn't seem to be possible.  Sad

Best regards,

Zwischenzugzwang

if you wanted to link directly to the post, it isn't possible to make the post a sticky as Tony mentioned, but you can link directly to your post.

for example:
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1322298439/30#39

here 1322298439 is the id of post and 30 says 'start from number 30, #39 is the number of your reply.

No, I don't think it is possible.

Is it also possible to make single posts sticky within a thread? That would be helpful in my suggested approach of "head thread" and "sub threads", cf. my latest post in the "Queen's Gambit repertoire" thread. (I wanted to create a link there, but unfortunately I don't know how to do that - a simple recipe?  Smiley)

Best regards,

Zwischenzugzwang

Should a group project be an important topic?

I suggest that threads which are group opening repertoire projects (such as the Spanish repertoire and Queen's Gambit Repertoire threads) should be shown as important topics, as these are projects within the ChessPub Forum community. The Spanish repertoire thread has already led to the creation of a huge number of new or lesser-known ideas for White and Black. Also I have a feeling that more such threads will be created in the future.

I'm particularly interested in the opinions of Tony and my fellow moderators.
