just use google translator. with the Chinese taking over the world it wouldn't hurt to learn how to translate it using a free service.

http://translate.google.com/

plus, there are probably a few Chinese subscribers so if you put up a pic of what this Chinese web site is all about, someone may help translate it.

Hello Tony, hello everybody else!

I've just tried to write an email to Glenn (Flear) via the Daring Defenses site, but it was not accepted. The mail I got as an 'answer' contains a link to a page 'SPF-blabla.com' (or so) which is unfortunately written in Ancient Chinese (it might also be Klingonian, in any case a language that a person who hates computers has no access to). Shocked

Can somebody please tell me how I (as a subscriber, to be sure) can get access to our CP authors?

Zwischenzugzwang

Indeed, I do confirm that! Repeatedly my e-mails were returned over the last about 7 days?!

Thank you, TN, for extending my vocabulary. I've never heard that expression before, but could find it in my dictionary.

Sorry, bragesjo, my post was not to be meant literally, and I didn't think that I would be taken like that  Smiley

In German there's the term Fachchinesisch, "specialist" or "subject Chinese", when somebody talks or writes in technical jargon which no outsider is able to understand, and this was what I intended to express. But this topos might not be readily translatable into English!?

Best regards,

Zwischenzugzwang

Double Dutch might be the closest colloquial translation.

Being a programmer I can tell you what the chinese comes from.
I have experinced this on websites in some browsers when the website had an incorrect encoding or not the same encoding as some other part of a framed page. So the browers interprets that ACII characters into something else and for some reasons incorrect interpretions turns into chinese letters.  In this case I suspect that the mail had been send as a htmlmail and for some reasons that htmlpage had an incorrect encoding.

Dear Tony,

I followed your advice, but with the same result as before. Now I've sent you a PM, containing the mail I received as an "answer". Please inform me what I'm doing wrong!

Best regards,

Zwischenzugzwang

We didn't receive anything, try resending it (to glenn_flear@chesspublishing.com, as before, presumably).
