Some time has passed and now have I played the gambit a few times. My conclusions is that white players rarely knows theory on this gambit at all and black gets good play. In one game was very exiting, a blundered away the win and the game became and endgame where both players had only kings left.

It have played h6 line in a few games but never got the chanse to play the gambit yet since Bg5 appears to be mostly employeed by untheortical players who plays Bxf6 when Bxc3+ gives black the better game Smiley.

I think that Bobby Fischer recommended the line proposed by Dearing with the comment that white has nothing.

EDIT correction
Bobby Fischer recommended h6 Lh4 c5 d5 d6 e3 Bxc3 bxc3 e5 when he wrote that "the two Knights are better than the two Bishops is such closed formation" (My 60 memorable game).

I have no experience with the gambit line and my experience with Dearing goes back 4-5 years. I remember, after going over the examples in his book, that the resulting positions seemed very easy to play from the black side. In fact, I did not understand why White would ever play 4.Bg5 as it seemed very hard for White to come up with a plan.

Hi!

Recently started playing the Nimzo and I am working out the minor lines and wanted to make a decision on the Leningrad. Essentially, I think I am between Dearing's suggestion (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. Bg5 c5 5. d5 Bxc3+ 6. bxc3 d6 7. e3 Qe7) and 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. Bc5 h6 5. Bh4 c5 6. d5 b5!?.

I have little practical experience in each line and have nothing against playing either and would have no problem with another line. I am just curious about anyone's practical experience with any of these lines and what they would recommend.

Thanks in advance!
