Edit: 3...Bf5 is considered the cleanest equaliser against 3.g3.

Off the top of my head, 3...Bg4 4.Ne5 Bf5 5.c4 may be annoying, with the idea of Qb3. But if that doesn't work then I don't see any reason to reject 3...Bg4.

After 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.g3, 3...c6 followed by 4...Bg4 is a popular defense (and recommended in James Rizzitano's How to Beat 1.d4) but is 3...c6 necessary before playing 4...Bg4? is there anything wrong with 3...Bg4?
