Would anybody be so kind as to share my free(!) options to add recent games (last 3 years) updates to my Chessbase?

Thanks.

I cannot understand what you need.  Embarrassed
Please, be more specific!

A free source to update my existing Chessbase database with Grandmaster games of the last 3 years.

Updates?  I only recall one way back when, where can I get the updates?

Try the ChessBase site, 'Service and Download'.

. . . a few minor improvements (some of which have been added to CB10 in the updates) . . .

Well,
- Games can be played through directly in the main window without having to open a separate board window (Never tried it!  Huh It can be useful, I suppose..  Roll Eyes )

This is actually one thing I really like, because when I try to find something I know might be in a database, I can just quickly play through the games I think are relevant.

Yes, I agree - I've tried it a while and although there was a big cosmetic change, and a few minor improvements (some of which have been added to CB10 in the updates) nothing that interested me too much. However, I did get the impression that CB10 was a bit quicker for some things, but I could be mistaken. Shocked

Well, I don't have CB 10, so I can't compare both versions.
After googling:
- Repertoire database completely revised (I hope for good Smiley )
- On playchess.com the last 40 games of a player can be downloaded as a database (Really?! Great!.. Does anyone care?)
- 'Try out' moves (Does anyone know what it means?  Shocked )
- Improved functions 'Opening report' and 'Dossier' (What's the improvement? Can you be more specific, for God's sake? )
- Generation of e-books for Amazon Kindle & Sony e-Reader (Does anyone use these...mhmm..goodies?)
- Training questions work more smoothly (I thought this was no questions-answers game.. But who am I to tell?  Embarrassed )
- Layout of reference database and online database ergonomically adjusted to the screen format (Well, hand on my heart! Very useful. Really! I use it often..)
- Games can be played through directly in the main window without having to open a separate board window (Never tried it!  Huh It can be useful, I suppose..  Roll Eyes )
- and much, much more (When I see such a statement I usually think "Yeah, and nothing more.. Was that all?"  Angry )

Is it really that much better than CB10?

Not in my opinion - I have both and still use CB10.

I've been running CB10 since it came out (upgraded from CB9).  I think some on this board actually prefer CB10 over CB11, but that may have to do with the steeper learning curve (from what I can gather) to get to the same-level of expertise on CB11 that one already has on CB10.  Is it really that much better than CB10?

Chessbase 11 is the best (and the latest) product of Chessbase.com company. Perfect and easy to use for your databases, repertoires and so on. The download version is enough, but still some want the dvd-version because of some goodies like the free chessbase serial number for playing on their server for a year, for example.
Anyway, the online database is enough (and MegaBase is not needed) only if you want to browse the online database and copy the games you want. As for other database works you may want to do, for example: statistics, repertoire works and alike...MegaBase is the one you'll need.  Wink

Chessbase 11 and Mega Database

I have seen that Chessbase sells the program Chessbase 11 via download.
Do you recommend this program? Is it fine the download version?
I see that Chessbase 11 has instant access to the online database of 5 million games. On the other hand, Chessbase sells the Mega Database. What’s the difference between these 2 databases? Is it worth to buy the Mega Databse if you already have Chessbase 11?

Thanks
