Is there smth wrong with avoiding the 11.Nf4-lines altogether by playing (as eg recommended by Aveskulov in "Attack with Black"):
5... ab5:
6.e4 Qa5+
7.Bd2 b4
8.Na3 d6
9.Nc4 Qd8
or do you simply not like the arising positions? I never had any problems here.. of course this doesn't have much to do with classical Benko games, but it's not like that's any different in the 5. ..e6 lines.

Interesting material unbalance this!
Its seems like all 3 results are possible though. For example in S. Kasparovs new book he gives:

16...c3 (instead of 13...Qd8) 17.Bxc3-Qd8 18.Qc4, with a slight adv white.  Probably true, even though  Houdini 3 says "complete even".

This line is Schandorrf's recommendation in his new repertoire book; Mnb's game is one of his featured games. His impression was that White had a good position pretty much throughout, but lost the thread a bit. He says after 32 Bd6 that 'the story should now end: "...and White went on to win." '

Concretely, he suggests 34 e6! fe, 35 Bxc6 Nd4, and now a pleasant choice between 36 Bxd7 and 36 Rxd4. Two moves further on, he suggests 36 Bxc6 as a promising alternative.

This does all look rather more promising for white in a practical game mind. Quite good expected score even?

Thanks for posting my loss, Vass. I posted this game in another thread, were TalJechin suggested an improvement - 23.Qd4 if I remember correctly.

Nothing personal, MNb!  Wink
It's a high quality game. I can figure it out, believe me!
I very much appreciate when a CC player seeks for some unbalanced positions in order to find a way to win. It's so hard to win in all openings' main lines nowadays.. I myself often try to find untrodden paths...  Cry

Yes, 11.Nf4!? is the hot move in this line today.. It seems like it's better than 11.Be3, but no need to worry. The 5.f3 - move in Benko simply doesn't work, imho.
Here I post the two games found in my ICCF database. Very good examples and starting points for your own analyses.  Wink

In the second one white played the better 21.Qe4..., but with no success.  Roll Eyes

Edit: Of course, it is not the play that an usual Benko Gambit player expects from the opening. Defence, defence and defence again...but you have a piece for two pawns, so what can you expect?  Cool

I am a Benko gambit player. I found in the 5.f3 variation of Benko gambit 11.Nf4 (instead of 11.Be3 mainline ) seems to be good for white...how to deal with this line any help is appreciated...thanks...
