The Sharpest Sicilian 2012...6...e5 with ...h5 lines look good

I used to think highly of the h5 lines, but now I think that if white plays Ne5, followed by short castling, then white is simply better and black has weakened his kingside
(of course, if white castles queenside, then black has his queenside pawn storm, while white has... no kingside pawn storm)

Lately I have tried 6. Be6 Ng4 which is interesting, but White may try to avoid it by repeating moves and throwing in f3 first. However, as I wrote in another post 6. Be3 Ng4 7. Bc1 Nf6 8. f3 Qb6 is interesting.

On 6. Be3 e5: As TN mentions there are 2 interesting lines to investigate apart from the main line (8. ... h5 - Topalov has played a lot of games with this system -and 10. ... a5 - my personal preference). I also play in main line fashion in this way: get White to play f3 first (e.g. 6. Be3 Ng4 7. Bc1 Nf6 7. f3 e5 8. Nb3 Be6) and delay O-O for some time. No great results so far, as White seems to keep the initiative deep into late middlegame, but suits myself.. (imo this is better suited for OTB games and not correspondence).

Is 10.-a5 really OK? I did not find any new impressive games for black.

I have also recently taken up this 6...Ng4 move against the English and love the positions I have been getting, I wish there was more coverage on this line in books, so far I have Starting out the Najdorf and recently found out that there is covearage of this line in Play the Najdorf by Gambit books.

And I also really like Qb6 as a partner to it.  I find these lines very dynamic and a lot of fun to play!

Magnus Carlsen behind the white pieces.  Wink

As for specific variations, the main line with 7.Nb3 Be6 8.f3 Be7 9.Qd2 0-0 10.0-0-0 Nbd7 11.g4 b5 12.g5 b4 13.Ne2 Ne8 14.f4 a5 15.f5 a4 etc has been nearly analysed to death, but 10...a5 and 8...h5 are two trendy but not as theoretical lines that are holding up well for Black. I don't think 7.Nf3 is as critical but it's just as important to know how to meet it.

OK, Najdorf gurus: having looked at some variations it appears to me that 6...e5 is a good answer to 6.Be6,  Anyone disagree?  Would anyone care to say what the most critical challenge is?
