This game is commented by Moskalenko in the Forum section of NIC YB 109 as part of pushing for his new "The Diamond Dutch" book discussed in another thread here.

He also comments on a win as black with Leningrad in the same tourmament against Tania Sachdev (one of the commentators at the offical web-site for the Anand-Carlsen match).

Both games with references to where in the book this is covered ...

Because of the move ...f7-f5.

Elias Stein (1748–1812), an Alsatian who settled in The Hague, recommended the defence as the best reply to 1.d4 in his 1789 book 'Nouvel essai sur le jeu des échecs, avec des réflexions militaires relatives à ce jeu'

Friends i am preparing this line against  dutch. I would like to know if there is any book on this subject, i tried to search games in Mega database 2010 .... after 1.Nf3 f5 2.d3 but only found 19 games and the latest game is played is Nielsen - stumpf year is 1989. i am wondering why i am not seeing games after 1989 for example the Carlsen game on this line played on 2004 is not in my Megadatabase 2010...so friends if you have latest games on this line(after 1990) please post here...it would be very kind if someone posts the database containing all the games on this line. thanks a lot.

"Dangerous Weapons: The Dutch" mentions one of my own games  Wink I should have played 11.Qb5

I just got informed that I missed another interesting game with this system. Black missed a clear win at move 27 with cxb2.

A very creative effort from black. I still need to check how serious this setup is.

Kindermann recommends this for white in this book "Leningrad System: A Complete Weapon Against 1. D4"

He has a chapter for it where he analyses the Carlsen game I believe. Obviously the book is writen for the black player so he recommends a different move order to combat it. I don't know of developments since.

I've been interested in this line as well since I've started making the shift from 1.d4 to 1.Nf3. My question is what do you play if after 1.Nf3 they play 1...e6 with intention of 2...f5 but forcing you to make a move first. Is 2.d3 still playable here? Or can they force you out of this system with this move order?

How do you know black intends f5? He may or may not depending on what you play; if you can be clever with move order, so can he.

You play 2.c4 and you are likely to get an improved stonewall after 2.-f5 3.g3. Here Bd6-systems are bad, and as a bonus Leningrad has been avoided. By playing this way the stonewall players at my club have completely stopped playing them against me Wink

thanks, wasn't aware of this trick.

Eh?  Certainly 2. d3 after 1...e6 is playable, but Black can play 2...d5 or 2...c5 or ...

I think this is an "old" SOS-line, even played by Carlsen. But I dont know which issue - perhaps someone else does.
