Hello all!
I am not playing the KID with black but a friend of mine does. Recently he said he had problems to face the exchange variation, so we sat together and played some games, analysed etc
After a few hours we came to an interesting conclusion in one of the main exchange lines:
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 00 6.Be2 e5 7.dxe5 dxe5 8.Qxd8 Rxd8 9.Nxe5!?
as far as I know almost all books I have seen so far say that with 9. ...Nxe4! "black is at least equal".
But what after 10.Nxe4 Bxe5 11.Bg5 Rd8 12.Nf6+ Bxf6 13.Bxf6 ?
I think white is not worse here and at least at my level I think somehow white is slightly better. He is behind in development but if he can finish it without difficulites, he will be for sure better with his two bishops.
A few training games between me and my friend continued:
13. ...Bg4 14.f3 Bf5 15.Kf2 Nd7 16.Bd4 Rad8 17.Rad1
and I dont see a lot of winning chances for black. Do you have any improvements? At least it seems to me that a white player who wants a draw can play this variation with succes... And after 17.Rad1 I would prefer white ...
Any suggestions are welcome thanks!
I will now add the pgn with the variation so it is easier for you to see the variation
