You can also use my brand new application for Android called "Chesster - the interactive reader". It is a tool to make chess ebooks interactive, similar to e+books in Apple. You can download and evaluate a free version in Google Play store.

With this app you can easily study your opening books while in offline mode.

I've found the CB is a bit too expensive.

I don't see where you are getting any of that either, didn't pick up anything like that from the article.

More importantly, regarding the product it looks very interesting. I am never keen on the online database thing, but if it can work from pgn files it could be very useful. I use Droidfish at the moment, which is free, so will have to investigate if its worth spending money on this.

What specifically do you refer to?

Highlighting features that give access to GM standard analysis at the swipe of a finger. Highlighting features that give instant analysis of a game loaded from pgn format. This next to an article which tries to cast doubts that the prohibition in the Laws of Chess against use of sources of external information and advice also includes a prohibition on the use of computer engines.

ChessBase are promoting CB for Android with a series of articles which come very close to suggesting ease of use features for cheating.

??
No it doesn't. At all.
Really RdC??! I simply read this as advertising its convenience. What specifically do you refer to?
Less time on ECForum, more time in the park smelling roses, watching butterflies will do you wonders.

Chess Viewer (Everyman) for android is now available.

It has been said that chess players are good at two things, Chess and Excuses.  It has also been said that Chess is where all excuses fail! In order to win you must dare to fail!

Chess book study, is a very interesting application to study ebooks or magazines in pdf or djvu format playing the moves on the board, all in one screen! Ideal for large screen Tablets.

I like Chess Genius, it's strong, has all the functions I need, and the graphics are clear and easy to look at on my phone.

Chess on an android tablet

Hey all! Long time since I've been to these forums. I took a break from chess, and I'm just returning to the game after about a 1.5 year break.

During that time, I also relocated, and now live in the Chicago area. I take a train downtown for work, so I have about 25 minutes commute each way. I've started bringing a tactics puzzle book with me, which was the start of my return to the game.

I also have an android tablet, wifi capable, but there's no internet connection while on the train, and I was looking for recommendations for what I can put on the tablet to use it for chess study while commuting. Any recommendations?
