Since, like I said, an idea like as big like that RARELY happens to backfire like that when it comes from Kasparov, my money is on that it is that good.  Let the bets begin !

There's the Kasparov Gambit in the Taimanov with 5.Nb5 d6 6.c4; that hasn't exactly stood the test of time despite an absolutely brilliant stem game.  I reckon this line may be like that.

Very interesting that Kasparov had this idea in the 90's - it is an amazing idea, but is it really good for Black??? The true test will be the next game it is played in I think - first time around it is incredibly difficult to play against, even if somehow Svidler did manage to get a good position.

Kasparov mentioned that he analysed this line back in the 90s and shared his findings with Nakamura when they worked together, but Hikaru's just not had a chance to play it yet.

Absolutely no idea Smiley Seemingly its at least reasonably sound as no one claimed it to be busted directly after the game.

I can remember the online computer at the time wanting to play Ne5g4!?!? instead of capturing on c4......

since no topic exists of this game, I thought I'd create one
so, what do you think of this astonishing piece sacrifice? is it really sound or just a one trick pony (but what a trick!)
