In your line after 13.h3, Black has the brilliant reply 13...d6!!
Here are a few sample lines:
1) 14. hxg4 Bxg4 15. Nc2 Bxf3 16. gxf3 Qf6 17. Ne1 Qg6+ 18. Kh2 Qh5+ 19. Kg2 Qg6+ 20. Kh3 Qh5+ 21. Kg3 Qg6+ 22. Kh4 Rbe8 23. Ra6 Nc4

White might be slightly better here but it's kind of unclear.

2) 14. Nc2 Nxf3+ 15. Qxf3 Ne5 16. Qg3 Be6 =

3) 14. Qe2 Nxf3+ 15. Qxf3 Ne5 16. Qg3 Be6 17. Bxe6 fxe6 18. Nxb5 Rxf2 19. Rxf2 Bxf2+ 20. Qxf2 Rxb5 21. Qe2 Rb8 22. Bf4 Qf6 23. Rf1 1/2-1/2 Anand Topalov, 2006

d6 is very nice indeed! nice find. very unbalanced. i'd probably take white in a correspondence game, and black over the board.

Doesn't Black win back the pawn with 16.-Bxf2+ ?

Doesn't quite work. White has 17.Rxf2 Rxb5 18.Bg5! forcing the Black queen to e8 or d7, when white follows up with 19. Ba4, skewering the rook to the queen.

In the OP's original line, another try might be to target the b5 pawn with Na3. It's not so subtle, but awkward to meet. Trying to hold the pawn with Bc5 can be awkward. i.e.

I think black stays a pawn down in this line, but has some activity to compensate to some extent, but I'm a lowly unrated player, so do be weary of what I say!

I think White can get an advantage in this line now.
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O b5 6. Bb3 Bc5 7. c3! O-O 8. d4 Bb6 9. dxe5 Ng4 10. Bf4 Qe8 11. Bd5!

In this line, the N on c6 is pinned so White is threatening h3 here. If 7.a4 Rb8 is thrown in first, then the c6 N is no longer pinned at the end of this line. So I think 7.c3 is better than 7.a4 to avoid this idea by black.

I won't give my opinion on this line.. I don't think I'm qualified enough for this. But..
All I want to expose here with this pgn is how the big guys in corr chess play this with white. In addition, I give here the abovementioned Tkachiev games and how his opponents reacted OTB.

I've noticed that Tkachiev has played this line a few times as black:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O b5 6. Bb3 Bc5 7. a4 Rb8 8. c3 O-O 9. axb5 axb5 10. d4 Bb6 11. dxe5 Ng4.
This looks like a nice line. Black will regain the pawn and it avoids the crazy complications of the random main lines where black is down a piece for three pawns. What do others think? Smiley
