I'd be surprised if there was much chess wise - RT was designed to only run the new metro style applications and the market there really isn't established etc.

The desktop is only there for the office port. Its a rather confused/odd compromise.

Android/Apple's stuff probably a better chance.

Sorry for bumping, I'm thinking of buying one, too, did you find any engines for it?

I was stopped in my attempts to get the massive Education discount by it only being available from Microsoft US and my uni only buying from Microsoft Japan. Admin rules, joy.
So, alas, scuppered. Sorry cannae help.

I don't know about the free memory space. That would depend on the tablet you buy. But I would worry about Win 8 RT, since what I have understood about it, it won't be able to run Chessbase at all!

That's why I am looking for Tablets with Win 8 instead, but as you say, budget is a problem. The one with the most bang for the buck that I have found is Asus vivo tab tf810c. Almost half the price of Surface pro and the others. Of course no Core i5, but at least it will support Chessbase.

Hi all. Wondering if anyone may know...?

Am considering buying a Microsoft Surface RT mainly for chess. (RT not Pro for work budget reasons).
Is there enough free memory space to run Chessbase effectively? And an engine, say Stockfish I guess, on it too?
Not a heavy duty user of either - mainly through lack of knowledge.
Much appreciated if any of you IT-savvy folk may be able to help...!
Thank you. *bow*
