I got the book and I completely agree with Fllg; dont waste your money on this. Its more like a copy and paste job ( collection of stuff) than a written book. And this GM Nenad Ristic is invincible, so to speak. There is hardly any analysis, no real commenting and its also quite hard to navigate in it.

Plus, it does not even mention the modern variations with 12.a4 or 12. Qe2.

I also got many Benko books, I mean nearly all of them. But this one, which I bought out of naive curiosity, I should have not. I cant help but quote Tony Miles: Utter Crap. That mean comparing this book with the other benko authors who really tried harder and produced something. This book of Nenad Ristic and Karl Otto Jung was a real dissapointment to me.

Hmm, my reaction was that I could do with a little less effusiveness.  Maybe they should have a scale for that, like the one for recommended rating level ...

And how much did I love that guy presenting? Rock star. The anti-Tiv.
I know no Spanish, but this guy is a classy presenter. So effusive.

Chess 24 has a video on the Perunovic line of the Benko. It is in Spanish, and has a free preview video.

I was thinking black, but everyone is very welcome to disagree. Perunovic managed to beat Tomashevsky with it, who loses very rarely indeed as white. What is 'he parks the bus' in Russian?

Yeah, the Perunovic stuff looks lively, gotta love such hacky lines.

Is that white doing the hacking. or black?

The world needs a new Benko book that updates the main line of the Benko Accepted to the Perunovic variation.

According to one german review the biggest (!) part of the book contains uncommented games and can absolutely not be recommended.

Given that it´s from July 2001 I believe you can spend your money better elsewhere.

Bump!

Anyone seen this? I have all the other Benko books, just wondering about this one.

I read schoolboy German. Seems that 201 annotated games, so maybe not a 'theory' book, but ideas. I would rather like that.

Thoughts anyone? Good choice of games? Explained well?

Thanks in advance!

Seasonal regards,

B

There is yet another Benko book on the way;

http://www.newinchess.com/Wolga_Gambit-p-7300.html

German language, and its a 2. editon. No table of contents yet. But a pdf-excerpt is suppose to be available when the book is published.

They know the moves in Germany too... And I would suspect the book might give us a solution to the now notoriuos moves 12.a4 and 12. Qe2 in the classical king walk variation  Wink Ìn any case, let` s hope  Smiley
