Is 8.cxd4 just winning for White?

Not yet, but Black is fighting an uphill battle to reach a draw. 15...Be7 and only 16...Nh4 seems best as Black gets the pair of bishops.

Sloughter's post shows the critical line:
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1371393454/4#4

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 Nd4 6.c3 b5 7.Bf1 Nxd5 8.cxd4 (8.Ne4 Ne6 =) 8...Qxg5 9.Bxb5+ Kd8 10.O-O Bb7 11.Qf3 Rb8 12.dxe5 Ne3 13.Qh3 Qxg2+ 14.Qxg2 Nxg2 15.d4 and now Black must try either 15...Nh4 or 15...Be7.

Based on computer engine output I believe 8.cxd4 is White's best.  I also agree that 8.Ne4 Ne6 is equal, as assessed in the post linked above.

5...b5 invites many inferior lines by White and must be considered to give a competitive advantage over 5...Nd4.  The rule of thumb is that if White parts with his light-square bishop and Black does not, Black will always have compensation for one pawn.

Nota bene: I don't really want to wade through reams of useless analysis, so Sloughter, please stay out of this thread and keep your nonsense to your own threads.

Did the forum ever come to any conclusions on best practices for the Fritz / Ulvestad?  There's so much in the forum that it's hard to tell, and the ramblings of you-know-who haven't helped in that regard.  Is 5...b5 the best way in?  Is 8.cxd4 just winning for White?  Many thanks to whoever could point me in the right direction.
