	Vass I used to play like that when I played the Spanish as White, its a strange opening because there is so much theory but in the end you can kind of make it up as you go along using a reasonable basic theoretical knowledge and general strategic concepts also. My favourite opening I think for that reason.

	My preferences go for 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O b5 6.Bb3 Bb7 7.Re1 Bc5 8.c3 d6 9.d4 Bb6 10.a4 Everybody knows 7.d3 is simply equal. Well, white has some very slight chances for +=, but not much. 7.d3 is the main move nowadays just because the play is not forced and the theory is not well established.

	Very interesting, its a crazy sharp line that, I can see now why 7.d3 is getting more popular.

	No, he's just saying that once white has commited to d3 there's no motivation to stick the bishop there You could consider Bb7 as an attempt to force white into the concession of d3. Obviously transpose if you're very happy with it although I'd imagine most would go for Bc5 lines vs 5 d3.
