I was surprised no one had mentioned the old Tata/Wijk/Corus videos which have to be some of the best ever made of the players give post mortems on their games... and I guess that's because the organizers themselves never bothered to make a channel of all the old amazing videos! They only have a new channel of their halfass coverage Sad https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUtQxVRULQTqrVnuWcblRQg/videos

Still some of the old videos can be found just by searching around... the best list I could find is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/forestdoggers/videos

ICC old videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/ICCchessFM/videos

Gibraltar chess: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa1RTZ95_wMc5dbzI8ugTEQ/videos

They have a master class by someone amazing every year: Anand/Kamsky/Shirov/Adams/Topalov/Ivanchuk etc

Granted, I guess I am not sure if you are just looking for people making new material, entertainment or learning.

One of the biggest problems in finding useful results is deciding what search terms to use as filters to weed out junk. This is true regardless of topic. It is even more true today than when the OP asked due to You-Tube's relentless efforts to monetize what once was free for all. You might find more useful results by searching for "odd" words like, "Nezhmedtinov" and then scanning the results by length of video. This is especially helpful if you are looking more along the lines of lectures or analysis, rather than channel updates which, you may enjoy, but are light on content.

I'll pop a shameless plug out there: https://www.youtube.com/user/TonyRotella

I go through periods of more or less activity. My channel is mostly rapid games, opening theory, videos of games I find interesting, or endings I'm studying. Enjoy!

Naka is great on YouTube. Clear, instructive and entertaining.
And of course incredibly strong, so there is a lot to learn.

I know he does Twitch too. Call me grandpa, but I do not really know what happens there or what that's about. I just watch YT.

GingerGM (English GM Simon Williams) is also fun too. Simon has an amusing and earthy way of explaining things, and a commendably direct manner of playing the game.

It's been a few years so I'm bumping this topic considering things may have changed in the last 5-6 years.

Looking forward to discovering new faves.

Thanks

My favourite channel is Chessexplained's. He's a German IM called Christof Sielecki: http://www.youtube.com/user/Chessexplained/videos I'm also addicted to watching his daily 3 uploaded Blitz videos with live commentary.

The St Louis Chess club's channel is probably my second favourite. They upload full video lectures covering all kinds of stuff. GM Ben Finegold, Ronen Har-Zvi and Varuzhan Akobian are their most frequent lecturers. http://www.youtube.com/user/STLChessClub/videos

FM Ingvar Johannesson's (from Iceland) channel is ok, but there's more content on his Twitch channel if you click on past broadcasts from here: http://www.twitch.tv/zibbit64/profile this is his youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/zibbit/videos I should warn he is prone to excessive swearing when he blunders or gets swindled. If that's a problem not worth looking at this one.

I also like Kingscrusher as recommended above. ChessNetwork's channel has the most subscriber's, I think it's probably because he's an American and people can understand him better? Because content wise it's not in the same league as Chessexplained's or the St Louis chess club's channels.

One of the best for "learning", not so much pure enjoyment/entertainment, is the St Louis Chess Centre https://www.youtube.com/user/STLChessClub?feature=g-high-crv who has posted hundreds of videos of lectures by GMs, IMs aimed at beginners, intermediates and advanced. Eg, some time back, GM Yasser Seirawan was lecturing on the Pirc which has some significance on the Kramnik game (?) as pointed out by one of the ChessPubbers.

There are also samples by ChessLecture.com at https://www.youtube.com/user/ChessLecturecom Just got to be careful of Valeri Lilov's videos.

Another set of videos are the commentaries by GM Suat Atalik at the 2103 EIWC at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQzNdwWgHGVsI-8L0Jk5MzQ
I think these are quite good, short and sweet.

I guess I divide chess videos on Youtube roughly into two categories: 1) enjoyment/entertainment - i.e., showing a game and the wonderful combo/idea/tactic/opening trap etc
2) teaching videos

What chess YouTube channels do you subscribe to?

I have never paid much attention to YouTube before since I am not really fond of viewing videos online. However, armed with an iPad and a Google Chromecast, I am getting to really appreciate YouTube now since I can now relax on my sofa, watch the video on my tv and still doodle on my iPad at the end of a hard day's work.

So what are the best chess channels to subscribe to?
