1.Nf3 h6 is covered. It isn't that bad and scores well enough. I made no attempt to refute it.

However, it didn't take long to find continuations in which I felt White to be better. I have other fish to fry at this point.

Not sure about 2.e4
Gives Black the possibility of 2...c5!?

Also a commentary on the futility of trying to firmly beat down every line of course- if even something like this can be even halfway sensibly defended then....

Yeah, quite so. In my youth I planned to write a book: to show a forced win for White in the King's Gambit. Where to start with such an ambitious project? I decided to do it Jaenisch's way, starting with a refutation of the worst black lines. But when I looked at 2...Qf6, I learned a lesson: it is hard work to kill a chess opening beyond any doubt.

1.Nf3 h6 2.d4/e4 and white is better or is this an insider joke?

We will have to wait for Bryan's work until we know. I agree that the position after 2.d4/e4 may be good for White, but it isn't legal to move both pawns at once.

It is a bit I guess. Stefan rather likes defending marginal seeming openings. Rather good at it too Smiley

It will be done when it is done.

I've lately developed a new system for White based on 1.Nf3 ("Pforzheim Opening"). But the main problem remains 1.Nf3 h6 which is very hard to refute. Here is hoping that you can find something.

"Pforzheim Opening"

Of all cities in the world, why Pforzheim?!  Undecided Wink

The opening sequence I call after Pforzheim isn't 1.Nf3 alone, of course.

If I were to ever write a Nimzo/405263776E71676C0208 repertoire book it would probably also encompass the Caro-Kann and end up being my own take on the "Opening for Black According to Karpov" book, which, despite its many criticisms, was the length a repertoire book probably should be.

I dont play any of those openings but i do love buying chess books and would be interested in that one  Cheesy

Well I'll buy it if you ever do.  I noticed that your Semi-Slav book is now available in electronic format, so that I can pick that up.  I'm still down in Brazil.

When I stop playing whack-a-mole with problem lines.

Writing a repertoire book for White is a fool's errand.

I imagine that it's easier to write a repertoire book for Black; if you can't always prove full equality, that's OK because you're Black, after all.  Not to get too far off-topic, but any thought of doing a Nimzo/QID repertoire book in the future?

Is there anything specific you want to know?

What interests me rather more is: When will this book actually appear? Everyman announces it for December 2014. Is that reasonable?
