@RoleyPoley:

That is very possible. The idea then would be basically to replace the Colle-Zukertort, the e3 Queen's Indian and the "Anti-Colle systems" with the ...e6 Torre, however you would run into the problem Kylemeister mentioned: While 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 3.Bg5 is fine, 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.Bg5 is probably less appetizing than 3.e3.

One solution is to learn the London system (2/3.Bf4) instead if Black insists on an early ...d5. The Torre and London seem to appeal to the same kinds of player.

Another is the one Burgess advocates: Go into the Queen's Gambit with 3.c4, but choose relatively calm, controlled lines (though his g3 gambit against the Triangle and Semi-Slav breaks with that pattern).

If the Cunning repertoire doesnt interest you, maybe Summerscale's 'Killer chess opening repertoire' of interest?

It's built around  opening d4 & Nf3 just like you would play for the Torre. His book doesnt feature the Torre though, but covers lines in the Zuketort, Colle Queens indian, barry attack and 150 attack against the Pirc/modern, 2. Bg5 against the Dutch, and includes lines against classical dutch and anti benko/benoni lines, along with sidelines when Black seeks to avoid the Zuketort.

you could therefore just drop the lines from his repertoire that your Torre could replace and play the rest if it interested you.

Thank you gwnn! Yes I know about it, but I'd like to compare suggestions with other authors, see if some lines fit me better.

That's exactly the point kylemeister. A naive attitude such as always playing 1.d4 2.Nf3 3.Bg5 against anything does not interest me at all. But i would like to play lines, not necesseraly mimicing the same scheme, but in the same spirit as the Torre : flexible, relatively low on theory, strategical, etc. I like to understand what I play, not to rely on memory nor to play on autopilot.

An issue with a Torre-centered repertoire is that 1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Bg5 allows the comfortable 3...Ne4.

I suppose you know about "A cunning opening repertoire" by Burgess already? It seems to fit your description so I'll just mention it in case you don't know it. Note that he only covers Bg5 against 2 .. e6.

Hi, I recently became very interested in the Torre System. I find it a very interesting reply to many indians defences.
Do you know any complete repertoire books that recommend it? Actually, I am not looking for informations about the Torre, but for the other major defences, mainly 1...d5 (including QGD-like and Slavs), that would fit well with the Torre (lots of tranpositions available).

Thanks!

If you have any recommendations, be welcome! How would build a repertoire with the Torre in it?
Be it, 1.d4 2.Nf3 or 1.Nf3, I don't mind.
