Aside from 4...cd, I think I'd be pretty unenthused about facing the old book move 4...Qb6 ...

Seriously?  I think it sounds awful for White.  Just play 2.c3 if you're that afraid of ...Ne4 and ...c5, or put the bishop on f4 to begin with.  Or go back and study opening fundamentals again.

Hi, i am playing the trompowsky and i am happy with it but i am not confortable with any mainline agasint Ne4. I was trying this line:
1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 Ne4 3.Bf4 c5 4.c3  ???  Is it playable?
I saw a couple of games where they continued:
4...cxd4 5.Qxd4 d5 6.Bxb8 Rxb8 7. Qxa7 Bd7 8.Qd4
What do you think about this?
