This reminds me of noticing Jonathan Tisdall using 5. Qb3 Nb6 6. d4 to good effect recently in the Norwegian team championship (albeit against opponents "only" in the 2200s).  30+ years ago he was playing 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5 4. Nf3 Bg7 5. cd Nxd5 6. Qb3, but there 6...Nxc3 is also a main move.

Anti-Grünfeld for White

I'm always hearing about how the Anti-Grünfeld (1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5) is so much easier to deal with than the Grünfeld proper, but I've based on the research I've done, none of white's various options seem to really get anything. Topalov's 5.Qc2 has been neutralized, 5.Qa4+ iirc is an equal queenless middlegame, 5.g3 seems to give white the slightly better end of a probable draw, etc. I'm honestly considering just transposing with d4 and playing a Russian or something...any suggestions?
