iirc there's meant to be some way to keep a fairly safe, stable edge. Not terrible but really not hugely attractive for black either. Don't remember it as being entirely inituitive.

The Fischer game was against Purevhav. The actual game was the usual Fischer plan, open the h file etc. Engine analysis suggests that 16 .. e5 was necessary to fend off the attack. A move earlier, the less obvious 15. .. fxg6 is now preferred.

The old Fischer game

The variation still gets played from time to time but recently, only in Junior tournaments. 12 Qe2 can be played as well, but doesn't appear to make much difference to the subsequent play.

Gets a mention in that (now rather) old Golubev book at least, and I'd imagine the various white repitoire ones.

Hi guys.
I remember old game of Fischer from Varna Olympiad, when he faced interesting line :1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 Bg7 7. f3 Nc6 8. Bc4 O-O 9. Qd2 and now Nfd7. The idea is to put the knight on b6 and other on a5. It looks kinda slow, but I cannot finde antidote to this setu. Is there any literature or www source about this variation? I have Dearing book abut dragon, but I cannot find this variation in it. Did I missed it, or it was not covered?
