Gawain Jones book "How to beat the Sicilian Defence" offers a repertoire mainly based on the Rossolimo with an early Bxc6, the Moscow and the KIA. It serves very well as an introduction and is fairly thorough at the same time.

Not that I have the book, but I've heard that Bologan's book and DVD on the system on the Rossolimo are very book. There's isn't a specialist work on the Moscow that I know of, but you can check out the games and articles of Tiviakov, for instance. David Smerdon on ChessPublishing was writing about how after 3...Bd7 4.Bxd7 Qxd7, the 5.0-0 Nc6 6.c3 Nf6 7.Re1 lines weren't necessarily as equal as theory had assumed (with White getting serious attacking chances on the kingside if Black wasn't very careful). Then there's the Bind options with 5.c4.

Experts on the Anti-Sicilians has coverage of all of 3...Nd7 (from Black's perspective), 3...Nc6 (also for Black) and 3...Bd7 (for both sides, but slightly more towards White). If you play the Ruy Lopez as White, then 3...Nd7 4.0-0 a6 5.Bd3 followed by the Lopez moves c3/Re1/Bc2/d4 is a logical continuation, and against 3...Nc6, 4.0-0 Bd7 5.c3 Nf6 6.Re1 a6 7.Bf1 Bg4 8.h3 has been panning out well for Black - I'm pretty sure there are some good annotations of why this is the case on Chess Publishing. To be honest I've never found something against the Moscow that I'm completely satisfied with; at least in the Rossolimo you can play 3...e6 and get an interesting, complex game.

As a general tip, I would recommend going for Bxc6 lines in the Rossolimo if you're after chances for an edge.

Finally, you need something against 2...e6 - most Anti-Sicilians players go for either the Alapin (3.c3) or a KIA (3.d3/3.g3).

All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Hi all,

Well in my quest not to play the main line Sicilian, I was thining of taking a look at Bb5.

I was wondering, what are the good bb5 dvd's and books out there? It seems that through out the years, there are a couple of books out there on it.

I know you can play certain positions in bb5 different ways, do the books or dvds tend to give you an over view, or do the authors just focus on one way? Is there anyone who is goes for more sharper positions than others?

Thanks.
