Yeah, just because it's in a book doesn't mean we can't examine the line at Chesspub!  Tongue

Actually, it's even more of a reason to cover it, since it will likely be a battleground for some time to come.

I agree with Seth, I would like to see more coverage of this line and deviations from Schandorffs recommendation against the classical slav here on chesspub.

It occurred to me after posting that this might be the "secret line" Avrukh advocated in GM Slav, but I do not own the book.

Lately this 12...g5 move seems to be the latest attempt to bring back the 11...f6 line. I can't seem to find it in either Schandorff's or Kaufman's book.

12...g5 was played sporadically until 2013 when GM Fressinet was the first 2700 player to give it a go vs fellow 2700-GM Ding Liren. That game was a draw. Lately, GM Hector has used it several times with good results.

Maybe this idea is worthy of a Chesspublishing.com monthly update?
