Interesting.  I'll have to go back through my KID books and see which one led me wrong.  I would swear someone referred to it as "Kramnik's taciturn response to ...Nh5..." or something like that.

He did play it, and of course Chessgames.com calls it "Sokolov's line": http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1070932

Okay, rather it was Sokolov's two wins en route to the Dutch title in '95 which "signalled its true arrival on the chess scene," in the words of Panczyk and Ilczuk in their Classical KID book (2009).  In a Yearbook in 2001 it was referred to as "Ivan Sokolov's 10. Re1."

According to my database, the Czech FIDE Master Ivan Jankovec played this in 1978. Then there's a small flurry of games in 1995, two featuring Sokolov, as kylemeister says.

Taimanov played it in 1956 (Taimanov-Ciocaltea:: Alekhine memorial Moscow 1956)

Bent Larsen as well in 57 and Ludek Pachamn in 1958.

The Bayonet, yes, but I was referring to (9...Nh5) 10. Re1.

Incidentally, if you prefer the lines with Rf1-e1, planning to answer ...Nf4 with Bf1, then Kramnik literally invented, and successfully practiced, that line.

If you are attracted to the plan with g2-g3, I would go to Van Wely's book and games.  He is the aficianado of that line.

I feel tempted to answer with one word: "Kramnik".
Most books are written from blacks perspective, but Markos "Beat the KID" recommends the Bayonet from whites side if I recall correctly. It might be a bit dated by now, and a look at Kramniks later games might be a good complement.

I am starting to play Bayonet attack against the king's indian defense as white...I looked at foxy dvd on Bayonet attack, watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1UAeohfpM8 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZdg4hCHGQw and liked the plan of g3 followed by Ng5...What are the other sources to get ideas on this system? and model games for white
