	I think it's played rarely because of the Kf2 move today in Ding game. Going to make a separate thread about it.

	For super GM is relatively easy to follow theory in the queen’s gambit until the game is almost over. The slav has much more obscure or not so well studied paths. They do not want to be surprised by a computer analysis.

	For SuperGMs, the Nimzo and Ragozin/Lasker is much safer.

	Fashion doesn't need explanations Maybe a chunk of white players going 4 e3 perhaps? (Either with Nc3 or Nf3 in.).

	Does the survey make any distinction between the various branches of the Slav? The Chebanenko has been all the rage lately but i am not interested in it. I am interested only in the Mainline, Alapin Variation: 5.a4 of the Slav. Looking at games on Chesslive.de I see very few games played in this line lately and I wonder why. If the reason is to be found in the Krause Attack with 6.Ne5 then I really believe that all the three main alternatives for Black lead to very interesting play with chances for both sides.

	Is this really a trend? Chess Magazine in the UK publishes a monthly survey of openings played by GMs and IMs, based on the TWIC database and using an analysis tool in HIARCS14. The Slav is consistently among the most popular choices in this survey, some way ahead of the QGD. Perhaps the situation is different if the sample is restricted to the 2650+ set; does anyone know?

	I wonder why the classical Slav is played so rarely nowadays. It seems to me a perfectly reasonable choice against 1.d4 very solid and providing counter-chances as well. The number of games played in the Queen's gambit fare exceed the number of games played in the Slav. Somebody can explain the reason of this fashion trend?
