A fair question would be what you intend to use it for?

The latest media DVD's don't work with anything older than CB12, CB12 Reader or Fritz 13, since you would need these programs to activate the DVD's.... but then again, ... the CB Reader comes delivered on the media DVD's as well ...

Food for thought,...

So I should go ahead and use reader rather than light sounds like. Correct?

Why don't you get both and try them, you might prefer the older one with the normal toolbars.

ChessBase Reader is more up-to-date and looks like the latest versions of ChessBase (12, soon to be 13) with the ribbon toolbars.
One advantage of Reader is that the ChessPublishing eBooks look much better with the clickable links. Smiley

Not exactly. It was a cripled version of CB10 at the end. You could get all the functions of CB10 for 50 € iirc. I payed and use it since then. Having bought a used legal CB10 for 20€ at an auction showed no differences.

As long as I know, ChessBase Light was the old name of the today's ChessBase Reader.  Wink

What's the difference? Is chessbase light 2009 the most updated I can get? I see there is a chessbase 12 but have to pay. What's difference with reader vs light?

Thanks
