A few days ago Forward Chess finally released the iOS version of the App with ChessPublishing setup in it. It is completely free to current subscribers of ChessPublishing, of course, you just need to download the free App.

To start with, it is good to be able to read the updates on my phone. However, there are several things that make it not as good as I hoped for:

First, the general problem with the app, which is the issue of navigation (something the books also suffers from in the app). Both between games, and also between books or now, updates for Chesspub (several ways to sort the titles are needed). This is solved by only keeping the latest 12 updates available under the Books-tab, as far as I can tell. Not optimal.

Second, the games for each update are just presented in a list. It would be much nicer to know what variation is actually played in each game, just as it is presented in the PGN-files or at the website.

Anyway, of course it is a good start!

Folks,

We have finally released the first "draft" of our Android app that provides access to Chesspublishing opening updates. 

The app itself is free (http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.forwardchess) and you should be able to log in using your normal Chesspub credentials to get access to the sections you are subscribing for.
For the current subscribers it is just an extra benefit, hope you like it!
