Hi depends on what kind of player you are.  All active.  You can kill 2 birds with one stone by playing Nimzo and Modern Benoni!!!  play nimzo vs Nc3 and Benoni vs Nf3 and g3.  Grunfeld lots of theory but still active!!  That is why many GMS play it.  all three you have to think what to do vs 1c4 and 1Nf3. If you like gRUNFELD pick up Kaufman's book and if you can find it Rowson's book on Grunfeld for the ideas and pawn structure.  Finally, longevity wise both are good but Modern Benoni you may need to add the Vienna or Ragozin later!
cheers,
Marc

Not many choices available for Benoni unfortunately, but luckily they are usually pretty good . The most recent was probably the one in Quality Chess Grandmaster Repertoire series ( i think it's by Marian Petrov, who may still post on here), which i think recieved quite favourable reviews.

Palliser has written a book or two on the benoni. First one was aimed at the weaker player. The most recent one at the stronger player and didnt provide a full repertoire as it only focused on the more popular lines white may play. Still recieved favourable reviews.

John Watson's book on the benoni was good, but maybe a little dated now.

Mastering the benko and benoni. Pretty old now, but focused on the pawn structures and the relevant strategies to follow rather than the theory.
