Surely not, I don't like to play Nf3 so early.

6. Nc3 Qd7 7.e3, do you play the Bxc3 idea?  I never know what to do after 8. bxc3 f5 9.e4.

Rowson annotated one of his games for the site a while ago where he gives 6...Qd7 a ?! and writes: Quote:
I recommend this move (and the associated idea of taking on c3) in Chess for Zebras, but now that I have actually played it I am much less confident that it is a safe way to unbalance the game.

I play this position sometimes and I wanted to ask you guys something.  After: 1. c4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. g3 g6 4. Bg2 Bg7 5. O-O d6 6. Nc3 Qd7 7.e3, do you play the Bxc3 idea?  I never know what to do after 8. bxc3 f5 9.e4.

I will try to expand upon the Marin and Palliser stuff when I get a chance.

Thanks for the thread.

Marin gives 6...Qd7 a !? and follows with 7.d3 b6 8.Bd2 Bb7 9.a3 (9.Rb1) preparing b2-b4. This is King-Larsen where Marin has the improvement 18.bxc5!

Palliser gives 6...Qd7 a ! in "Beating unusual chess openings". He suggests 16...e5! in King-Larsen, whereupon Marin suggests 17.Bd2! += with the idea Nb5-c3-d5.

What are the best ways to deal with larsens 6..Qd7 in the symmetrical?

Kostens book i dont think mentions it and i have not checked if Marin mentions it or not.

BTW im talking about the position after 1. Nf3 c5 2. g3 g6 3. Bg2 Bg7 4. c4 Nc6 5. Nc3 d6 6. O-O Qd7
