I thing that solution is to pick all pawns. (eg. this situation, but there is the white to move)

Not entirely impossible. There is exactly one solution (which I am not going to post, since I have seen this problem before).

Black has King on h3 pawns on h4, g4 and g3
White has King on h1

1...g2+ (only move) 2.Kg1 now both legal moves 2...Kg3 and 2...g3 are stalemate.

There is doubled pawn. With doubled pawn this situation is not problem, eg.:

Not if we're talking about whether it can be drawn without the king Smiley (The point being that even that is non trivial to achieve, so no hope with the king included!).

That's not a legal position. Black is allowed a King.

Kyle, please provide one example.

White king on g2, black pawns on f5, g5 and h5, with Black to move.  White meets 1...f4/g4/h4 with 2. Kf3/g3/h3.

(Goodness 3 non doubled pawns generally (always?) force a queen all by themselves and the king hardly hurts!).

Not always, for instance there are pawn-stopping positions with a K vs. three united pawns.

Kyle, please provide one example.

Probably a few answers with them allowed - force the loss of one pawn to avoid stalemate at the start then you've got a draw with doubled a/h pawns etc.

King on b6/a6 but I guess black can always jettison the a pawn on his move.

Takes cooperation from both players but you could legally have that position where moving the king to avoid stalemate is drawn due to breaching the 50 move rule Smiley

Or have white winning on time.....

The assignment is clear: three black pawns and king vs white king. Black is on move. Each pawn is in another column and all pieces are on right side of chessboard (e1..e8). There are apparently a solution when there is a draw....

In the corner, white king having been checked on the previous move.

This is that situation, but only if white on move... If black is on move, then game ending by checkmate.
