What is putting me of from this from the black side is 4.cxd5 Nxd5 5.d4 with many possible transpositions into different openings like the Grunfeld or Semi-Tarrasch.

Is there a sensible way for Black to avoid this?

Nicolai Pedersen also covers this Kasparov Gambit in Play the Benko Gambit (Everyman, 2011, 978-1-85744-634-0).

I was thinking of adopting this line because it can creep up through a Benko/Benoni move order. But what lines can people recommend to learn alongside this if white avoids an early d4?

Two Benko books (more or less) that cover it are Aveskulov: Attack with Black and the Alterman Gambit Guide (Black volume). (Both also cover the Blumenfeld gambit, which can fit quite well in a repertoire with the Benko).

This 1.c4 c5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 e5 gambit is one line where you often see theoreticians claim a White edge, but in practice the positions are easier to play for Black, and that accounts for his good score.

I think Martin is correct. It is the Kasparov Gambit and was covered in the Dangerous weapons: flank openings book. It's also covered in some books on the Benko as it can be reached through a Benko/Benoni move order too.

Hey everyone. I couldn't find a post or much information at all on the following.

I've been rooting around for some time trying to find some information on the line:

1. c4 c5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5!? 5. Nb5 d5 6. cxd5 Bc5

(It's worth noting that this can be approached via a 1. d4 move order)

This is a pawn sac by black that goes in for active play, and doesn't intend on winning the pawn back any time soon. 

Question numero uno: Does this line have a name? 

Does anybody have any strong opinions on the line or know of any famous games? Has anyone got a good source of information on it? An article or book or some such thing? Essentially, anything that anyone has to say is welcome!
