I wonder what the stats are in this line for say players over 2300 to 2400...

There are hardly any games with Carlsen's .. Ba6 idea.

A month later, Grishuk preferred 11. Rd1 against Andreikin in the Baku edition of the Grand Prix. They continued with 11. .. Bb7 12. Bf4 Bb4 which had been played, amongst others, in Stellwagen v Carlsen at Wijk back in 2009.

As with many variations in the Berlin, it isn't so much individual moves that make a difference, as the broad sweep of plans and piece placement.

In that topa - carlsen game topa has absolutely no advantage at all. Probably out of prep already hence the quick draw. I wonder what the stats are in this line for say players over 2300 to 2400... Seems like black is more than ok and equalizes easy?

Actually the post is wrong. It is 10..b6. After 9..ke8 10.h3 b6!?

Carlsen played it with the idea of Ba6 to follow. He drew quite quickly.

This is in the main line Berlin, right?

Is 9..b6 a solid alternative to the main lines? I know cox briefly mentions it in his book and it seems logical enough. Just wanted to get opinions (if any) on this line.
