Thanks. Yeah, the book was actually given to me, about 10 years ago, by a friend. I wasn't a Nimzo player and so it just sat on my shelf for all these years. 

As a side note, even further back I recall being at a chess bookstore (well, a chess club that happened to sell books), and I asked the owner if there was a book that covered an opening from the perspective of typical plans, positions, and tactics. He looked at me like I was crazy and mumbled something about how they don't make books like that. Then he tried to upsell me on a combination book. Suffice to say I think the book is a pretty great into to the Nimzo. Thanks!

after asking the question I got a partial answer, in that the last 2 pages of the "Mastering the Nimzo Indian" book have a table of variations and the position type that arises from each. 

It's going to be a bit of work, but I should be able to map out what that means for a particular black repertoire.

I have a question about this book, which I'm just finishing up reading (just starting to evaluate this as a possible repertoire choice, and still not yet sure if I'd pair it with QID or Ragozin, although it's obvious after reading the book why the QID is such a natural fit). 

One question I have is, does a NID player need to be ready for any one of those positions? Or, is the book a survey of every position type that might arise, given all of both white and black's choices? E.g. once I create a repertoire, is that going to cut down the number of position types I need to face? Which position types does black get to choose, and which does white have the option to dictate?
