Well, that Gawain Jones idea is older than Gawain Jones;  I recall that there was some treatment of it in a late-'70s edition of Keene's Flank Openings.

(One bit:  Keene considered 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. Qe2 Nc6 4. g3 Nf6 5. Bg2 d5 6. d3 Be7 7. O-O O-O 8. e5 Nd7 9. c4 d4, as played by Gligoric against Smyslov in 1964, to be a mistake.  That seems right to me, though I recall some later book disagreeing.)

There have been any number of games over the past fifty years, if not longer, which show that White can break through and deliver mate. However there's no forced win and Black's invasion of the Queen side may be decisive. The Gawain Jones idea of playing Qe2 instead of Nbd2, thus enabling c4 may be important in that it slows Black's queen side play.

Chess, fortunately, is not so simple.

And yes, this is KIA, not KID too. Wrong place.

I vote for taking with a grain of salt the idea that the traditional view of that line as equal/unclear has been overturned.

oh sorry.

From move 10, -0.50 advantage to black due to space advantage.

Right assesment of the position or should the engine evaluation be taken with grain of salt?

Please, not just bare computer lines.
Do you have a question?
Conversations need words.
What is your point, assuming you have one?
Thanks,
B
