Svidler was clearly letting his emotions go out of control in the tie-break, he looked drained out.

Seems that way. Utterly brutal format. Hope Karjakin is forgiven those early draws with white a few rounds back! He's been giving the impression of basically running on nerves/willpower for a while actually.

I didn't even imagine they'd be playing yesterday, but rest days clearly aren't favoured.

They are probably both so tired that they can hardly see straight by now.

A golden opportunity - which he lost! Svidler blundered too (from a superior position).

Now the score is 2-1 to Svidler and in the last game Karjakin has White.

In the last 2 games both showed signs of fatigue / nerves. Let's see, nothing's over yet..

Hi.

Game two out of four - World Cup Final.

Karjakin-Svidler 0-1

Sadly the game was decided by a big blunder from Karjakin. Svidler has a golden oppurtunity to seal the match victory tomorrow.

Have a nice day.

I really hope Svidler can maintain this form into the 2016 Candidates. I can think of no nicer person who deserves a shot at the title. He's waited his turn patiently, I hope 2016 will be the year of @Polborta.

Svidler in post-game interview mentioned that Karjakin and him have been duelling in this variation/position for the last 2 years and played 4(?) games.
He mentioned that he has always wondered why Karjakin previously has never taken with Knight which Karjakin finally did in this game.
He also reckoned that karjakin should play …h6 earlier.
Svidler again showed various variations in the post-game demonstrating Karjakin's mistake and how he would win after the mistake.

Hello everyone.

The first of four long games in the World Cup final has been played.

Svidler-Karjakin 1-0.

White got little out of the opening and I'm a bit surprised Svidler played the opening he did. In the middlegame Karjakin resolved a very tense position in a bad way, got a not so good position and lost after some further inaccuracies.

Have a nice day.

Yeah, respect for the lad noticing.
Never really took to Karjakin. My bad I guess. May be the man-child thing, as was never a fan of Doogie Howser MD either.
Hoping it's an interesting fight, and rooting for all round good guy and cricket fan Svidler.
NN 1.e4 e5 Svidler =+
Or so it seems.

Crazy 3-fold repetition claimed by Karjakin yesterday; by 'crazy' meaning he was well composed and quick enough to actually plan this (with 68. Bd2!) !

Yes they were today, Karjakin knocked out Mamedyarov and Svidler knocked out Wei Yi.

Giri and Eljanov are the other two still in the tournament.

All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
