Hi all,
I was in the mood to play the classical KID with white and this is what happended: 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 00 5.Nf3 d6 6.Be2 e5 7.00 Nc6 8.d5 Ne7 9.Ne1 Nd7 10.Nd3 f5 11.Bd2 Nf6 12.f3 f4 13.c5 g5 14.Rc1 Ng6 15.Nb5 Rf7 16.Ba5 b6 17.cd6 cd6 18.Be1 a6 19.Na3 a5N 20.Qb3 Bf8 21.Nc4 Rb7 22.a4 h5 23.Bf2 Nd7 24.Qc3 Nc5 25.Ra1 Bd7 26.b3 g4 27.Rfb1 Qg5 28.Be1 h4 29.Nc5 bc5 30.fg4 Bg4 31.Bg4 Qg4 32.Qf3 Qg5 33.Kh1 Rba7 34.Qh3 Qf6 35.Ba5 Ra5 36.Na5 Ra5 37.b4 cb4 38.Rb4 Ra7 39.a5 f3 40.Qf3 Qf3 41.gf3 10
Of course, I've checked my game with an engine, but he can't help me around move 18 and so forth, so I write my thoughts and hope for some help by the forum.
18.Be1 "some years ago, I read an article by Giri in NIC, that square b4 belongs to the knight, so I played it"
18. ...a6 "oh dear, he really knows his stuff and I've no real idea, what to play"
19. Na3 what to play, 19.Nc3, 20.a4, 21.Nb5, rooks on cfile, this takes ages, Black will wrap me on the kingside, so let's try 19.Na3, maybe I can put some pressure on the b6 pawn.
19. a5N my opponent wants to controll xb4 to limit my Nd3, so far 19. ...b5 and Bb7 was played
20. Qb3 I was impressed by Black's setup; not really sure what to play, so I sticked with my plan to play against b6
20. Bf8 overprotects d6, Rg7 is possible to play g5g4
21. Nc4 I've nothing, except of this lousy attack against b6
21.Rb7 Black protects everything, rolls with his pawns on the kingside and in the right moment, he swaps back with his rook to g7; actually, he can even play on the queenside with b6b5 in the right moment I'm lost.
22. a4 yes, this pawn can even be a weakness (Bd7,Qe8), but I've to stop b5 somehow
22. h5 I'd have played g4, without h4, maybe xh5 can be used by a piece, but okay, I still have nothing
23. Bf2 arg, what a move, I invite him to play g5g4g3, but I see nothing better
23. Nd7 yes, heading for c5, I've nothing, my pieces are somewhat misplaced
24.Qc3 maybe b4 can work for some day
24. Nc5 as expected, Black controlls the board, someday he'll finish me of on the kingside
25.Ra1 so painful 25.Bd7 26. b3 sooo painful 26.g4 27.Rfb1 preparing b4, protecting b3, maybe ra2, King gets some luft to escape Qg5 okay, g4g3 and this horrible game is over, what to do 28. Be1 hm, strange, without g4g3 he has nothing, what can he play? 28.h4 wait a minute, this doesn't really work, can I really survive this horrible position? 29.Nc5 the so forth
I wasn't in the mood to celebrate after the game, I had the feeling, I understand nothing about the KID and my whole setup, which looks so straightforward (c5, Rc1, Nb5, Ba5) leads to nothing.
Who can help me to understand this line better?
