It's a Quality Chess book and I like it so far. It's a first-person account of KI battles (mostly, as there are also a few games not played by Smirin) grouped by middle game theme. Analysis appears to be computer checked and of high quality, as far as I can tell.

Great to hear this - thank you!
Is it inctructional or rather inspirational?

Anyone got it? Is it worth buying? How it compares e.g. with Golubev's or Gufeld's works?

I have no problem with older games as long as analysis are new!
Books written by Kotronias is all about theory. Smirin's is meant to teach how to play the opening  - it's rather an inspirational work.
I'm just curious how well it's written and if it has some instructional value.

New in Chess are advertising a new book on the Kings Indian. It's by Ilya Smirin and to judge by the sample, it's a collection of his best games in the King's Indian highlighting tactics and themes that recur.

I did notice that some of the games were played more than twenty five years ago, so theory may have moved on.
