I would suspect that it is a relatively automatic/painless process for new books, because they'll have systems set up in advance.

Or not of course - unsure how organised all of this is!

Whatever, there's a good chance that none of that will help with the older books.

Perhaps thats a time issue? From reading their blog, the staff at QC appear to be working full out just to get new books out and may not have the capacity to get the older titles published on Forward Chess.

I assume it's ForwardChess who convert the books to their format, not QC, and they prefer new books as they think there will be more sales.

Perhaps you might post on the QC blog site and ask them directly, rather than us. That is, if you wish to receive a response instead of (apparently) making a statement.

On their blog, it has been mentioned that it is also a question of economics. It costs to convert to Forward chess. A question of whether there is sufficient returns.
I believe that in addition, they have made a decision not to convert the older volumes.

Then how about the lack of Shaw's book on the King's Gambit? Clearly that can't be considered an "old" edition by any means.

Given the size of the book, and the size of the audience, i think it may have been considered uneconimical to do. Jacob recently mentioned on the blog that he was disappointed that their book with 3 lines  against the lopez didnt sell anywhere near as many copies as they had expected despite it reviewing really well.

That also knocks out the Marin volumes on the English opening as well.

Quality Chess started publishing on Forward Chess some time in 2013, I believe. By and large they haven't been converting QC books that are much older than that to Forward Chess, though there are exceptions like True Lies in Chess (a free sample on FC), My System and Chess Praxis.

If you look at this list of Quality Chess books by date http://www.qualitychess.co.uk/published-books.php , most of the books published from 2012 onward are on Forward Chess, but very few from 2011 and earlier. Sadly, Avrukh's Grünfeld books are one year too old...

Grunfeld volumes not on Forward chess app?

This question is geared towards the iOS app called Forward Chess and the chess books available for online purchase. I found it curious Quality Chess is leaving out the Grunfeld volumes 1 and 2 by Boris Avrukh from their online store for purchase. I found it odd because they have the latest releases of the Nimzo Indian, Trompowsky and the Ragozin listed. Can anybody explain this or is this an indication Quality Chess is readying some new editions of the Grunfeld books and that's why the first edition isn't being listed?
